The Women’s March in January 2017 drew nearly 500,000 people to Washington DC. Marches around the US included about 5 million people. There is an estimated 7 million people around the world who participated.
Not one arrest. Not one riot. Not one American Flag burned. Not one confederate flag present. No white supremacists in site. No need for firearms. No brutal beatings. No police deaths or police brutality. No tear gas or rubber bullets. Definitely no moms burning down Targets. Just millions of people around the world marching in unity.
The largest March organized in history to speak loudly for democracy, equal rights and to elevate the voices of women. Organized by women. Peaceful and impactful.
Some women rolled their eyes and we remember them. We always will. But those of us who stood together in the millions, whether physical or virtually, we know what that day meant and what it proved to the world. Women make shit happen and we don’t need guns or violence to get our point across!
We need more women and men who support women in leadership. That’s a true balance of power. Ladies, we really do rule the world and we need to remind each other of that!
